About MÜN

​

MÜN Kollektiv is a performance collective founded in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2023 by Minju Kim and Moonjoo Kim.

​

Drawing on different physical practices – Physical Theatre, acting, Korean dance, and movement analysis – they create interdisciplinary performances at the intersection of theatre, dance, and live media.

At the centre of their work is the body as an archive of social experience.

​

MÜN explores how memories, social expectations, and power structures become inscribed in the body: in posture and habits, in adaptation and self-control, in what becomes visible – and in what remains unseen for a long time.

​

Their work engages with questions of belonging, gender, migration, social norms, and memory. Experiences between Korea and Germany form an important point of departure, without being reduced to fixed cultural identities.

​

MÜN combines body-based research with text, music, images, media, and installation. Traditional and contemporary movement languages meet, shift, repeat, and are read anew.

​

The body is not simply a means of representation. It carries traces, resists, remembers, and changes.

​

MÜN creates performative spaces in which these traces become visible – and social orders are, for a moment, set in motion.

MÜN – Development

 

2018
Minju Kim and Moonjoo Kim begin their artistic collaboration. Their different backgrounds in Physical Theatre, acting, and Korean dance form the basis of their shared body-based practice.

​

2022
During a residency at Maschinenhaus Essen, they develop I and Dot, an early collaborative research project exploring the body, movement, and perception.

​

2023
MÜN Kollektiv is founded in North Rhine-Westphalia.

​

30–31 August 2024
Premiere of Fitting in or Not at All at HELIOS Theater Hamm.
The production explores migration, belonging, adaptation, and the question of what it means to “belong” within a society.

​

November 2024
Revival of Fitting in or Not at All at HELIOS Theater Hamm.

​

July–August 2026
Artistic research in Seoul for the new production Nicht in Ordnung – Der weiblich markierte Körper.
Interviews, movement research, observations in public space, and an exploration of body images, social norms, and experiences of female-marked bodies become part of the development of the piece.

​

14, 15 and 16 August 2026
Showcase performances of Nicht in Ordnung at Mullae Art Factory in Seoul, including a post-show audience discussion.

 

17 and 18 December 2026 · 7:00 PM
German premiere of Nicht in Ordnung at Katakomben-Theater Essen.
